The American Trucking Associations’ Moving and Storage Conference awarded two professional drivers with the organization’s Super Van Operator Award as part of the MSC's recent annual meeting.

The Super Van Operator Award honors exemplary drivers and owner-operators who provide safe, reliable, and customer-oriented truck transportation in service to the nation’s household goods carriers.

This year, Damon Clark of National Van Lines received the Super Van Operator Award, and Brian Eckert of JK Moving Services was given a lifetime Super Van Operator Award.

Clark has been a driver for 27 years.  Eckert has been a driver for 32 years and has 2.5 million safe driving miles.  He is a previous recipient of JK Moving’s Long-Distance Driver of the Year Award.

“Drivers are the heart of the moving and storage industry,” said MSC Executive Director Dan Hilton. â€śI’m proud to recognize these two outstanding professionals for their decades of service and attention to detail.  They are exceptional ambassadors for our industry, ensuring that every move they handle is carried out with the utmost care.

“Damon and Brian are tremendous examples of the hardworking and dedicated individuals who define our industry, and we are enormously proud to have them as MSC members.  Their commitment to safety and customer service sets the bar high. We wish them all the best and thank them for being role models who embody the professionalism and customer service we all strive for.”

Ohio to convert closed rest area to truck parking

The Ohio Department of Transportation plans to create a truck parking facility along Interstate 80 near the Pennsylvania state line.

ODOT recently announced plans to turn a closed rest area on westbound I-80 in Hubbard Township into a truck parking facility. Work on the new facility is expected to begin in 2026.

The facility will have 38 truck parking spaces, restrooms, lighting, and a camera system.

The project is to be paid for by a grant from the federal Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and High Projects fund, which is administered by the Department of Transportation.
