The Cook County Sheriff’s Police Organized Retail Crime (ORC) Unit recovered merchandise from a recent cargo theft.

On Dec. 23, ORC investigators recovered more than 25,000 pounds of the stolen protein powder at a warehouse in Bridgeview following a cargo theft investigation.

The ORC investigation began earlier this month, when a supply chain company contacted the unit to report that a large shipment of Seeq protein powder was missing, according to a social media post by the sheriff's office. Investigators learned that the stolen protein powder may be in Illinois.

Further investigation led them to the warehouse and the stolen shipment worth more than $500,000.  The unit is continuing to gather information to build a strong theft case.

This is the second major recovery of stolen cargo by the unit recently. Late last month they recovered more than $2 million in stolen merchandise from an Oak Forest warehouse.
