Ryder Systems, Inc. honored two truckers at its annual Driver of the Year Award event, April 9 at the company’s headquarters in Miami.

Truckers Bill Phipps and Carlos Aceituno received the Drivers of the Year recognitions. The award is given to drivers for “demonstrating exemplary safety performance, customer service, and citizenship throughout their careers,” according to a Ryder news release.

Phipps, from Corbin, Kentucky, drives for Honda as part of Ryder’s Supply Chain Solutions fleet. He’s been driving since 1968, when he was just 16, and has collected over 4 million accident-free miles, 2.6 million of which he drove for Ryder. He became a driver trainer in October 2015.

Aceituno, an Army veteran from Ennis, Texas, hauls freight for CVS with Ryder’s Dedicated Transportation Solutions fleet. He has driven 1.5 million miles with Ryder and has 5.6 million collision-free miles overall. He has been driving for 34 years and has trained over two dozen drivers.
