As much as well-intended family, friends, coworkers, and media outlets (yes, like us!) harp on it, there are often many times when you’re racing the clock and cannot stop for the healthy, sit-down meal you’d like to have.
At those times, one of your most common options is a fast food place, and often a Subway, which are fixtures at many truck stops and rest areas.
No, we’re not going to suggest a salad even if it is a good option. (Let’s face it, you may have to grab some grub and go, and eating a salad as you drive is out of the question.)
So, when you do buy a sub, keep in mind its nutritional value. Here are some popular sandwiches from Subway along with their calorie, sodium and fat counts. Some of these subs may be lower in calories, but keep an eye out for high sodium counts. Also, keep in mind the chips and soda you buy add to those counts.
(These numbers are for 6-inch subs with a typical array of vegetables.)
