Tolls increase on Bay Area bridges

Tolls on seven state-owned Bay Area bridges in California will increase Tuesday, Jan. 1. Tolls on the Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael, San Mateo-Hayward, and San Francisco-Oakland Bay bridges will be affected.

Tolls for vehicles with three or more axles will rise by $1 on all of the bridges to $16 for three axles, $21 for four axles, $26 for five axles, $31 for six axles, and $36 for combinations with seven or more axles, according to the Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA).

Tolls will also increase by $1 for two-axle cars and trucks, as well as motorcycles. The Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael and San Mateo-Hayward bridge will increase to $6. Regular tolls on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay bridge will increase to $7 on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Bay Bridge tolls will increase to $5 from 12 midnight to 5 a.m., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to midnight. On Saturdays and Sunday, Bay Bridge toll will increase to $6.
