"Small but mighty."
That's how Ryan Streblow describes the tank truck industry in North America. And, he should know. Streblow is the president and CEO of the National Tank Truck Carriers, the trade association for this segment of the overall trucking industry.
How small? Streblow says tankers make up just 6% of all trucks on the highways today.
How mighty? Tankers carry some 30% of the freight tonnage, and that translates to $41 billion.
In this episode of The Truckers News Podcast, Streblow talks about where the tank truck industry is today, and what's ahead in 2024. He talks in-depth about who's behind the wheels of tank trucks and what it takes to get there.
Streblow also goes into detail about a new image and recruitment campaign his association launched in October. Like other segments of the greater trucking industry, tanker carriers are always in the market for drivers. The online portal is aimed at recruiting experienced drivers and military veterans who are looking to make a job change and join the ranks of what Streblow calls the industry's elite drivers.
The campaign launched in the Houston and Chicago markets and has already amassed 4 million impressions.
