Louisville-based A&R Logistics announced the purchase of 48 new trucks, model years 2014 through 2018, for a total cost of about $7 million.
The 2017 model Freightliner Cascadias will be delivered in the second and third quarter of 2016. The have 72” sleeper cabs and driver comforts including a refrigerator, on-board bunk heater and satellite radio connections.
Most of the trucks will replace existing vehicles, bringing A&R’s fleet to some 750 vehicles. Over the past two years, the company said it has invested over $27 million in the purchase of new trucks.
A&R’s Chief Executive Officer Mark Holden said, “Our latest new-truck acquisition represents a sizable investment, and the company’s ongoing commitment to upgrading both our rolling stock and our terminal and warehouse facilities. We make this investment to enable us to better serve existing customers and new ones, as well. This is what successful growth demands.”
A&R Logistics, Inc., which is ranked 115th on the Commercial Carrier Journal’s list of Top 250 carriers, provides dry bulk transportation, packaging, distribution and logistics solutions to the chemical and plastic industries. It has a network of 25 facilities and uses a combination of company-owned equipment and owner operators.
