Trail King has issued a recall of about 115 trailers because of an issue that could cause aluminum cross-members to crack, according to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The trailers, 2016-2018 Trail King ACS/AACS step decks, were made with aluminum cross-members over the suspension, while other trailers have similar cross-members made of steel. Trailers manufactured between July 1, 2015, and Feb. 28, 2018, could be affected.
Trail King says the aluminum cross-members may crack in the welded corners where they attach to the frame beam. If the cracks spread, it could result in other areas of the trailer’s frame cracking, which could eventually lead to the suspension loosening from the frame.
Trail King will notify owners of affected trailers, and dealers will replace the cross-members free of charge. NHTSA’s recall number is 18V-638.
