Jon Ritscher of Crown City, Ohio, had his 2016 Schneider Ride of Pride Freightliner at the Walcott Truckers Jamboree at the Iowa 80 Truckstop last week. Not surprisingly, Ritscher’s ride got plenty of looks. He spent eight years in the U.S. Army as a petroleum supply specialist, and completed two tours in Iraq. The Ride of Pride program originated in 2001, when Ed Keeter, a shift manager and U.S. veteran at Freightliner’s manufacturing plant in Cleveland, North Carolina, proposed the project as a way to honor military veterans.
