Driver freed after three hours trapped inside overturned tanker truck

A truck driver was freed after being trapped inside their overturned tanker truck.

The crash occurred in the City of Central, Louisiana near Baton Rouge Friday, April 19 at about 7:30 p.m. Authorities say another vehicle crossed the center line forcing the driver of the tanker to veer off the highway to avoid hitting the oncoming vehicle. The tractor-trailer struck several power poles before turning over.

The Central Fire Department reports it took about three hours to rescue the driver from the wreck. The department said in a Facebook post, "This would turn out to be the longest and most complex rescue operation in decades."

The identity of the driver and their condition were not reported,.
