Cold weather is creeping its way across the country but you can stay warm this winter with Martha Stewart’s slow cooker Cajun stew.

This is a quick recipe. It preps in about 15 minutes and cooks in 4.5 hours.

Okra, shrimp and sausage, three classic Cajun ingredients, get mixed with cayenne pepper, red onion, garlic, bell pepper and diced tomatoes to give this recipe its flavor. The recipe recommends making sure the slow cooker is at least halfway full but no more than two-thirds full when you begin cooking, so there’s no overcooking or overflowing.

This recipe yields about six servings. See the complete recipe, including cooking instructions and ingredients, on Martha Stewart.
