I-81 in Virginia losing 129 parking spaces

Come Saturday, Nov. 15, it will become a little tougher to find a place to park on I-81 in Virginia.

On that day, TravelCenters of America at Exit 150 will close at 4 p.m. for good, taking with it 129 parking spaces.

And, this has some truckers less than pleased, with many saying so in the comments under this article on Overdrive.

The Virginia Department of Transportation acquired the location for a project to reduce congestion and improve safety at the exit. The $46.75 million project will begin this spring and should be completed by Fall 2017.

As one person said:

“More trucks and fewer parking spots leads to more tired drivers trying to make it a few more miles to get safe parking.”

But another said:

“It’s a dump that was impossible to get in anyway. Good riddance. It hasn’t been updated in a hundred years either.”
