Fantasia & Fantasia 2000
Fantasia, created by Walt Disney in 1940 was light-years ahead of its time, mixing classical music with amazing animation. It was beautiful, funny, engaging and, in the trippy 1960s, became a cult favorite. Fantasia includes eight different segments, all set to classical music. A highlight is “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” one of Mickey Mouse’s greatest roles. Also on Netflix now is Fantasia 2000, a remake of the original. This update includes The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, but adds seven new segments, all accompanied by classical music. Celebrities introduce each segment in live-action scenes including Steve Martin, Itzhak Perlman, Bette Midler, Penn & Teller, James Earl Jones, Quincy Jones, and Angela Lansbury.
