Big truck racing has been a motorsports staple for many years … on other continents.
Now it’s returning to the U.S. and fans here will get the chance to see what folks in Europe, India, Australia and South America have enjoyed for years.
April 24-26 marks the beginning of the Meritor ChampTruck World Series, which pits the kind of trucks normally used for hauling freight and delivering goods against one another. They will negotiate demanding road courses at speeds up to 100 mph.
Overdrive’s James Jaillet got a closeup look at this kind of racing last year in France. He offers an in-depth preview of the series, introduces you to some drivers and explains the season ahead.
