Jonah Hill & James Franco in “True Story.”
In this 2015 thriller, Michael Finkel (played by Jonah Hill) is a reporter for The New York Times who gets fired for fabricating part of a major story. Christian Longo (portrayed by James Franco) is a fugitive in Mexico suspected of murdering his wife and three children. The two connect when Logo is arrested and claims to be Finkel. As you can see, this is a thriller filled with more than a few uncertainties. More than that, the movie is based on, yes, a true story. In twist few screenwriters would consider, Longo actually went on to write several pieces for the Times and a book.
