If you’re hooked on the programming of one of the major online streaming services, get ready to pay more.
Netflix is raising the price on its most popular subscription plan, the Standard plan which offers HD streaming on up to two devices, from $10.99 to $12.99 monthly. This is the streaming service’s biggest price increase since it started 12 years ago, according to The Associated Press.
The Premium plan allows for Ultra HD streaming on up to four devices. It is increasing from $13.99 to $15.99. The basic plan, which offers non-HD streaming on one device, is increasing for the first time from $7.99 to $8.99.
New subscribers will see the price change immediately while existing subscribers can expect to see their subscription price changing in coming months. The price increases will reportedly allow Netflix to invest more in original programming and paying off debt, according to the AP.
