Served in the US Army for over 16 years as Airborne Artillery and as a Combat Engineer and served in two combat tours to include Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star during combat operations in Iraq in 2006 as Sergeant First Class Hernandez.
