Fuel hauler pays drivers bonuses for safe driving

Gemini Motor Transport, the primary fuel-hauling fleet for Love’s Travel Stops, recently honored drivers for their safe driving.

The company distributed more than $1,125,000 in bonuses to dozens of drivers who have remained accident-free and met Gemini’s strict safety policies and procedures for five years.

According to a statement from the company, safety credits are awarded to drivers on an annual basis. To earn one credit, drivers must remain accident-free and have no tickets or fuel-related incidents over the period of one year. They must also pass all U.S. Department of Transportation and Gemini inspections, as well as adhere to Gemini’s safety policies. Once drivers collect five safety credits, they’re eligible to receive the bonus.

“Gemini drivers travel millions of miles per year to deliver fuel in all kinds of weather and we want to reward them for making safety a top priority,” said Brent Bergevin, vice president of transportation for Gemini. “The Safe Driver Credits program has been a fantastic tool for reducing turnover and recognizing drivers for their professionalism. It’s also helped Gemini continue its incredible safety record and industry-leading Compliance, Safety & Accountability scores, for which we’re extremely proud of our drivers.”

Since recognizing the inaugural class in 2016, Gemini has awarded more than $6.3 million in Safe Driver Credits to drivers.

Gemini is based in Oklahoma City and operates more than 750 trucks and employs about 1,100 drivers.
