Texas junior college expands driver training program

Paris (Texas) Junior College is expanding its driver training program to include its Sulphur Springs campus. The program is divided into two sections, each $2,300 for 100 hours.

The first course, Professional Truck Driving I, provides an orientation to the trucking industry. Students learn about the basic operation of trucks, vehicle safety and pre-trip inspections. Instruction is also provided on vehicle maintenance, accident prevention and procedures, and more. Students in this course receive general hands-on trucking skills development.

In Professional Truck Driving II students receive instruction on basic and advanced skills and safe operating practices. They learn basic shifting, backing skills, and receive general hands-on trucking experience.

The PJC-Sulphur Springs trucking program began in January. PJC already has established trucking programs at its other two campuses in Paris and Greenville.
