A veteran-owned moving company is pledging to hire government employees and veterans affected by the ongoing federal government shutdown.

Two Marines Moving, which has offices in the Washington, D.C. and Miami areas, has experienced a 10 percent decrease in client move requests in the D.C. area due to the shutdown. Despite this decrease, the company is encouraging furloughed government employees and others affected by the shutdown to contact it about potential employment opportunities.

Nick Baucom, the founder and CEO of Two Marines Moving and an Iraq War veteran, said the company has weathered government shutdowns before but this time is different because the shutdown could potentially last for an indeterminable amount of time.

“Washington has a tendency to forget how their lack of action impacts the rest of us. I am making it my personal mission of Two Marines Moving to offer temporary and long-term career opportunities to government employees and veterans affected by President Trump’s shutdown,” Baucom said. “Although I may no longer be on active duty, my company and I continue to serve our country every day.”

The company said it has open opportunities for movers, drivers, and dispatchers.
