If your driving takes you through Pennsylvania, you may wish to check out a new online map that shows the last time a state road was plowed for snow.

The color-coded map appears on the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s website at 511PA.com.

The snow-clearing map is update through PennDOT’s automated vehicle technology, which sends a cellular signal showing the location of each of the department’s 2,200 plow trucks.

Last year, the state plowed about 40,000 miles of road. That requires deploying about 4,800 workers.

PennDOT also offers some online winter driving tips at penndot.gov/winter.
