Several trucking and trucking-related businesses were recently honored by two different organizations.
Three businesses were included on the lists of 2019’s best places to work created by the jobs website Glassdoor. The rankings are based on employee reviews of the companies.
FedEx Freight was ranked 85th out of the 100 top large companies in the U.S. to work for. Oshkosh Corporation, which makes a number of work trucks and armored vehicles for the military, was rated 65th.
Keep Truckin, maker of fleet tracking and ELD compliance software, was ranked 33rd out of the 50 top medium and small companies to work for.
The Iowa Area Development Group recently honored eight companies, including the independent Waspy’s Truck Stop, which has stores in Templeton and Audubon, Iowa. The properties are owned and operated by Lawrence “Waspy” and Doris Handlos.
Located on Highway 141, the Templeton location has a full-service cafe, groceries, spirits den, cigar humidor, fuel, and car wash. The Audubon store, which is located on Highway 71 (between I-80 and Highway 30) has truck parking, a certified scale, trucker lounge, two showers, laundry, Blue Grass Inn and Suites hotel, and Feed Mill restaurant.
Waspy’s was nominated by Raccoon Valley Electric Cooperative.
IADG says it is “the business and community development leader for Iowa’s rural electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, and independent telecommunication companies.”
