The American Moving & Storage Association recently recognized four carriers as its 2018 Fleet Safety Award winners. The awards recognize fleets for their overall safety, improvement in safety, and creativity and leadership in the design of their safety programs.

The four winners are:

Under Five Million Miles: Able Moving & Storage of Manassas, Virginia

5-10 Million Miles: Moving Services of Sterling, Virginia

Over 10 Million Miles: United Van Lines based in Fenton, Missouri

Safety Improvement Award: Hampton Roads Moving & Storage in Suffolk, Virginia

The mileage-based awards are based on annual miles traveled. They are presented to carriers in each category that has the best weighted combination of the lowest U.S. Department of Transportation recordable accident rate per million miles of vehicle operation, and the lowest vehicle and driver out-of-service rate.

The Safety Improvement Award is given to a carrier that successfully reduced its incidence of accidents.

“The American Moving & Storage Association proudly honors these winners for their record of excellence in safe vehicle operations,” said Scott Michael, president and CEO. “They have demonstrated a strong commitment to the highest level of safety for their customers and themselves. Their track records are an inspiration to the entire moving and storage industry to strive for success in safe vehicle operations.”
