Does your driving take you through Texas, Louisiana, Kansas, Oklahoma or Kentucky?
If so, you may want to double down on your defensive driving techniques.
Based on a new study by Forbes magazine, those states are home to some of the worst drivers in the U.S. The magazine used six measures -- most of which included highway fatalities -- to come up with their rankings.
The top 10 states for having the worst drivers include:
- Texas (which scored 100% on the Forbes rating scale)
- Louisiana
- Kansas
- Oklahoma
- Kentucky
- New Mexico
- Wyoming
- Arizona
- Montana
- South Carolina
States with the best drivers according to Forbes' ranking were Vermont, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Ohio, California, and Washington.
Forbes' ranking was based on:
- Number of drunk drivers (BAC of 0.08+) involved in fatal car accidents per 100,000 licensed drivers

- Number of fatal car accidents involving a drowsy driver per 100,000 licensed drivers
