Use websites to ‘clip’ coupons & save

No matter how long or short your shopping list is, it makes sense to save as much money as you can. But, that’s not always the easiest goal to reach if you are on the road much of the time.

CouponOne way many shoppers fight the battle of the checkout counter is by clipping coupons. CreditCards.com says 85 percent of Americans rely on coupons for saving money when they shop, and almost half of all American shoppers will switch brands if they have a coupon, according to GfK MRI’s The Survey of the American Consumer.

But, clipping coupons can be challenging for drivers who are on the road and may not have access to many of the circulars mailed to their homes.  Fortunately, like for so many other things, the internet has a solution.

Many are the websites that allow shoppers to download or print out coupons so drivers have access to the savings while away from home.  Among them are:

Retail Me Not, which claims to offer 500,000 coupons from more than 50,000 stores. This site also has a blog that helps shoppers stay current on special events like Presidents’ Day sales.

Redplum.com has numerous categories of coupons including dining, fitness/health, entertainment, auto and services.

Couponsherpa.com offers not just coupons but also promotion codes for a variety of stores and products.

PennyPinchinMon.com is a source for a variety of money saving options, and shows you how to load coupons onto your smartphone.

Honey.com saves you from having to do anything but shop. If you are a fan of Amazon, this widget will automatically apply to your purchase any coupon or promotion code if there is one.

And, of course, there are numerous apps to help you make the most of your couponing opportunities for iOS and Android devices.
