Look back: Most read Truckers News stories of August 2015

Editor’s Note: Before 2016 arrives, Truckers News is taking a look back at the year about to expire. Over the next two weeks we’re taking a month-by-month look at the stories and videos that were most popular with you, our readers.

Another season of “Ice Road Truckers” debuted in August, and Truckers News’ sister publication Overdrive put out an investigative series on suicide by truck.

These were the most read Truckers News stories of August 2015:

1. “Ice Road Truckers” new season begins Sunday with some changes (Read it here.)

Another season of “Ice Road Truckers” returned. There were some changes at the start of the new season: Hugh Rowland did not return for the season, and Lisa Kelly accepted a job offer from Darrell Ward.

2. Suicide by Truck: Driver & counselor discuss the issue (Read it here.)

The ‘Suicide by Truck’ investigative series took a look at the topic of individual’s committing suicide by truck. Dr. Dan Reidenberg, managing director of the National Council for Suicide, said, “The trauma for the trucker is similar to those who are used against their will in suicide by cop or suicide by train. The post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms can be severe and last a lifetime.”

3. NTSB: Driver in Tracy Morgan accident awake over 28 hours (Read it here.)

The National Transportation Safety Board, after a year-long investigation, concluded that the truck operator in a June 2014 crash involving a Walmart tractor-trailer and actor/comedian Tracy Morgan had been awake for over 28 hours.
