FedEx Freight driver Eric Courville is the back-to-back grand champion of the Louisiana Truck Driving Championship after taking home the top honor for the second consecutive year.
The competition, hosted by the Louisiana Motor Transport Association, was held March 29-30 at the Blue Bayou Waterpark in Baton Rouge.
Courville has been with FedEx Freight for 25 years and has a record of 24 years with no accidents. He has accumulated 1,175,000 safe driving miles. Courville competed in the 3-Axle class and earned a score of 391, the overall highest score earned at the competition.
A total of 104 drivers competed in this year’s championship. The winners in eight main categories will go on to represent their state at the National Truck Driving Championship Aug. 14-17 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The eligible categories are: Straight Truck, 3-Axle, 4-Axle, Tanker, 5-Axle Van, Flatbed, Sleeper Cab, and Twin Trailers.
