The South Dakota Trucking Association has chosen YRC Freight driver Wade Wagemann as its 2019 South Dakota Driver of the Year.

Wagemann has been in the trucking industry for 27 years, with 16 of those spent at YRC Freight. He has driven 2.3 million accident-free miles. Wagemann is a 13-time competitor in the South Dakota Truck Driving Championship and has been named the state’s grand champion three times. He has competed 10 times at the National Truck Driving Championships.

On June 17, Wagemann was driving his truck when he saw a toddler wandering in the street. Wagemann was able to coax the child off the street and stayed with him until police arrived.

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem named Sept. 6 Wade Wagemann Day in South Dakota in celebration of his accomplished trucking career.

YRC Freight Customer Service Director Rick Hoogendoorn also recently received the South Dakota Trucking Association’s Chairman’s Award for 2019.
