2019 is making a tumultuous exit for the midsection of the U.S. Heavy snows and winds closed interstates and slowed or stopped travel in several states including Nebraska and South Dakota. That winter storm is expected to move east and cause more problems in the upper Great Lakes and on into the Northeast in the next several days.

However, people in the Chesapeake Bay region and the Delmarva Peninsula can expect locally heavy and gusty thunderstorms into tonight, and temperatures were expected to reach near 70 F in Washington, D.C. In fact, New Year’s Eve could be mild in many locations around the country.
