The New Mexico State Police have released the bodycam video of a trooper talking to Harjinder Singh during a traffic stop July 3.
Singh spoke with the trooper who issued him a ticket for speeding ticket and conducted a Level II inspection.
Singh's ability to meet federal English language proficiency standards was questioned in the wake of a crash on the Florida Turnpike earlier this month.
New Mexico had been threatened with a loss of funding by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy after Sigh was involved in an Aug. 12 crash that killed three people. Duffy also similarly threatened the states of Washington and California for issuing Singh commercial drivers licenses.
Duffy and other officials had said Singh should not have received CDLs because he had entered the country illegally in 2018. However, Singh had applied for political asylum and was driving for a California company while awaiting an immigration hearing.
