Walmart driver takes home Delaware grand champion title

Walmart Transportation driver Robert Benton won the grand champion title and first place in the 5-Axle class at the Delaware Truck Driving Championship, held May 18 at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington. Benton also won an award for having the highest score on the pre-trip portion of the competition.

First-time competitor Anthony Manso, who drives for FedEx Freight, won first place in the 4-Axle class and was named Rookie of the Year.

The class winners will go on to compete at the National Truck Driving Championship in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Aug. 14-17.

4-Axle: Anthony Manso, FedEx Freight

5-Axle: Robert Benton, Walmart Transportation

Sleeper Berth: Paul Marks, Walmart Transportation

Tanker: Joseph LeBlanc, Mountaire Farms

Straight Truck: Johnny Wiltbank, Walmart transportation

Step Van: John King, FedEx Ground

Rookie of the Year: Anthony Manso, FedEx Freight

Best Pre-Trip: Robert Benton, Walmart Transportation
