Thieves make off with $20,000 of beef in latest Philadelphia heist

Deliveries in Philadelphia continue to to be targeted by cargo thieves.

On Sunday, July 20, two men are said to have broken into a parked tractor-trailer and made off with some 40 boxes of meat while the driver slept.

NBC10.com reports the theft occurred Sunday at about 3:15 a.m. while the truck was parked near the 9700 block of Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia.

Two men are said to have broken into the trailer and loaded 40 boxes of beef into two waiting SUVs, and fled before police arrived.

The stolen meat is reported to be worth $22,000.

The truck was parked behind a Lowe's in a shopping center.

Police continue their investigation.
